The Cavanagh House is a 501c3 nonprofit upholstery and sewing paid apprenticeship program. Our mission is to individuals gain financial stability, by providing the training, support, and opportunities needed to “Learn a Trade and Gain a Career.”

At The Cavanagh House, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to build a better future. Your donation supports our free upholstery and sewing paid apprenticeship program, giving individuals in need the chance to learn valuable skills, earn an income, and create a pathway to independence.
In Maryland, the poverty level for a family of four is $24,300, and many of our students live below that line. For them, The Cavanagh House isn’t just an opportunity — it’s a turning point.
Where Your Funds Go:
The Cavanagh House is a paid apprenticeship training program. From day one, our students are paid an hourly wage as they learn the trades of upholstery and sewing. Full-time students earn an annual income of approximately $32,000 while in the program.
