The Cavanagh House Teams Up with CASA of Baltimore County

We are proud to announce that we will be teaming up with CASA of Baltimore County in the fight to break the generational cycle of poverty and homelessness. CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates. Their mission is to provide court appointed volunteers who advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in Baltimore County who have entered into the foster care system. In Maryland, children may legally stay in the foster care system until the age of 21 however many choose to leave at 18. Our collaborative goal will be to get these young adults (ages 18-21) into our Creative Trades School Programs and upon completion of their course get them a job before they age out or willing leaving the foster care system. From a very early age, these children have been faced with situations we only see on TV or read in a book. Most, if not all, have lost their ability to trust, feel, hope or dream of anything better. We need to do whatever we can to change this. They are our future.
